Color of the year 2023: VIVA MAGENTA 18-1750

Since 2000, the renowned color institute Pantone has been announcing its color of the year.

The color for 2023 is called VIVA MAGENTA.

Viva Magenta comes from the family of reds and is inspired by the red of cochineal, one of the most precious dyes in the natural dye family and one of the strongest and brightest the world has known,” says Leatrice Eiseman, executive director at Pantone Color Institute, in the statement. “Rooted in the primordial, Viva Magenta reconnects us with the original matter. Calling upon the forces of nature, Viva Magenta stimulates our minds and helps us build our inner strength.”

The color is further described as “bold and fearless, a pulsating hue whose exuberance promotes joyful and optimistic celebration, writing a new story. It’s a newly animated red that revels in pure joy, encouraging experimentation and self-expression without restraint, an exciting and boundless shade that manifests as a striking statement. Pantone 18-1750 Viva Magenta welcomes everyone with the same zest for life and rebellious spirit. It’s a color that is bold and full of humor.”
